Speaker 1Welcome to a winning haunt . You guys , I am just going to cut straight to the to tell you how I found out about it because , yeah , I you remember , I went to the hospital , I recorded an episode from rehab and all that
The Broken Hip Revelation
Speaker 1jazz . Well , I do have a broken hip . Fun , fun , fun . I do have a broken hip , fun , fun , I do have a broken hip . That's why it has been so incredibly painful . The hospital didn't diagnose it as that well , they did for a minute of two seconds and they were preparing me for surgery , but they all of a sudden changed their minds and then , if it's been , and I went to rehab for two weeks , just got home from that , and then it's . It's been incredibly crazy . And then I have another surgery on wednesday . It's sunday , august 3rd , as we're recording this .
Speaker 1So August 6th , 2020 , 25 , I have surgery to see if I'm a candidate for a back-living pump , which means I , I let me back up
Upcoming Baclofen Pump Surgery
Speaker 1. Back living is a muscle relaxation used typically used for cerebral palsy and it's used for a bunch of other things , and then it's wonderful , and then it's wonderful . But the wonderfulness of all Baclovin is they can't get the dosage high of back livin . And so with the back livin pump which , yes , will go into my spine . Yes , my spine has a bunch of hard wearing , yes , I have to get that organized . And yes , it will go into my spine . They will tube it to the front . And so I'll have two incisions to tie me . Two incisions , one on my back and one on my right side of my stomach , because I sleep on my left side . Well , you can't necessarily sleep on a lump of a hockey puck when you fall asleep , and so that's why they're putting it on my right side . And I'm so little I'm about five feet 100 pounds that it's going to be interesting . So that's what's going on with that .
Speaker 1And then I have a two-week follow-up with my whether I need hip surgery or not . And that's fun . This has all been huge shits and giggles . And then so how ? I found out that my hip is broken
Hospital Embarrassment and Diagnosis
Speaker 1. Is I landed up going to the orthopedic surgeon with my leg halfway up in the air , wearing hospital socks ? Yes , talk about embarrassing . And for the back living appointment , I was screaming in pain , basically . And so , yeah , screaming in pain wearing bedroom slippers Looks like I lost my other , one of mine .
Speaker 1And then , for the fraction hip appointment , which I'm calling it . I was wearing hospital socks . I wasn't in that much pain because they've loaded me up with . Therefore , the doctor gets me on . You can see the doctor's wheels and his brain turning away , like , how did you get in this position in the first place ? Was it your leg halfway up in the air , your leg touching your butt ? Yeah , able to move .
Speaker 1Well , then we find out that and , yes , the good news is , yes , my femur's healing . Well , for those of you that don't remember , they had to wipe my femur when I had knee surgery , and so that can take a while , but whatever , that's beside the point , and so that can take me a little bit , whatever that beside the point . And so , basically , the surgeon looks at the dang thing and says when did you know you broke , you fractured , the ball of the femur right , and I'm like what , what ? I thought it was a psoas and fingermen . Nope , I broke my hip by falling off my bed . I admit it , by falling off my bed . Yes , I had the cancer . Yes , it was on my birthday . So I fell off my bed on my birthday and , not realizing that , I broke my hip on my birthday . So happy birthday
Feeling Like a Rehab Failure
Speaker 1to me . Now I'm dealing with a very late birthday person of a broken hip and we'll see .
Speaker 1I'll keep you guys updated as to what's going on , but I really just got home from rehab today . That was a complete disaster to have because , yeah , that was a disaster to have because they wrote the wrong diagnosis down and at the end they all figured out oh yeah , she has a broken hip . So therefore it wasn't very successful and I feel like a complete failure , which is not a good thing . I cried for half an hour about that me being a failure who spends two weeks in rehab and a million dollars later in rehab and then comes out with no difference . So that's my story . I've been sticking to it and I will keep you guys updated on the back-lifting pump story and then I will keep you guys updated on the broken hip story . So back-lifting pump and the broken hip Fun . Surgery Plans and Next Steps

Speaker 1By the time next week's episode comes out with Danielle and I it my um , I'll be one step further to getting the back flippin' pump . Because what they do the reason why I said I'm having surgery on Wednesday is they poke a hole , low bell spine puncture again . I've had one before . It's not good and they literally inject the baclovin in the hole . They have you see a physical therapist after they , after they inject the Baclovin , and she tests your spasticity and she also does a test beforehand and if your spasticity meets the numbers they want it to meet for the Baclo pump , and then yes , you are approved . So that's that , and so that's going to be fun Wednesday . I have skill in the knife for small surgery . Yeah , that's going to be great , fun , lovely , and so , yeah , medical servant Shelby on Lovely , and so , yeah , medical summit Shelby , and so it's really interesting what they say . But I'll keep you guys updated what they say and I'll keep you guys abreast of what's going on with my broken hip . So we'll see you guys next week .
