A Winning Heart
Between Bedrest and Broadcasting: A Journey of Resilience
Unexpected challenges often lead to newfound purpose. That's the story behind my latest venture—a mental health podcast called "She Is Her" specifically created for women with disabilities.
From my current bedbound state, I'm launching this platform to address the unique intersection of disability and mental health. Having experienced anxiety and depression alongside my own physical disability, I recognized the need for a space where women could share their stories and connect with others who truly understand. "She Is Her" will air Tuesdays and Thursdays on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, featuring conversations with women brave enough to share their mental health journeys.
My recovery hasn't been straightforward. My orthopedic surgeon recently delivered the disheartening news: "I wish you were doing better at this point." Rather than letting this discourage me, I'm channeling my energy into physical therapy, preparing for eventual hamstring surgery, returning to school for a communications degree, and of course, building this podcast. While physically limited for now, I'm discovering that impact isn't bound by mobility.
If you're navigating the complex terrain of disability and mental health, or if you'd like to share your story on the podcast, please reach out. We can arrange recording sessions via Zoom. Check out "She Is Her" on your favorite podcast platform, and join me in creating a community where vulnerability becomes strength and shared experiences lead to collective healing. Your story matters—let's tell it together.
Welcome to A Winning Heart, you guys. Okay, now I can tell you what you might have already heard, because I did a solo episode on this. Now I can tell you what I'm doing. I'm actually hosting, and yes, another podcast Call Me Nuts on mental health, and it's called she Is Her and it's going to be primarily for women on mental health journeys, because having a disability and at least with my own disability and anxiety and depression comes with it. So I decided to start this mental health podcast just because I wanted to help women with disabilities. Now, it's just started out, so what we're going to do is what I'm going to do is host it on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so if anyone wants to come on, they can reach out to me and I'll set it up via Zoom, I'll set it up via some sort of recording and you can reach out to me and share your mental health journey and call it good.
Speaker 1:And, yes, I'm still bed bound at this very moment. For those of you who are curious, and yes, I will admit this publicly, I had my all-speaker surgeon tell me geez, I literally tell me geez, I wish you. I thought you were going to be doing better at this point, and this is my orthopedic surgeon, and so I'm like, okay, dude, you really want to not give me hope, do you? So, yeah, and this is in Phoenix, arizona, and so I'm like, dude, you really don't want to give me help, do you? And so what I'm doing is doing PT, doing all that. Then I'm going to eventually get my leg down and get it strong enough to go down, and then I will get it down and get it to the point where I can have hamstring surgery, where I can have hamstring surgery.
Speaker 1:But in the meantime, I'll be going back to school to get a communications degree, and then I will also be working on she Is Her Mind as a Mental Health podcast. It could be found in Spotify and Apple Podcasts for right now, and then I'm working on getting it on different places. But please look up Shiza and listening to the maiden voyage of that. And I'm going to let Dan the Yell go, because Dan the Yell has a date with a friend of mine actually, which I'm kind of jealous of that, but that's a long story why Dan the Yell has a date with a friend of mine, and yeah. So I'm going to let Danielle go and I'm going to let Danielle leave us out and we'll catch you guys next week and we'll I'll give you guys more updates about my leg and my stuff and life goes on, and we'll About my leg and my Stuff, and life goes on, and we'll be Figuring it out. So bye you guys. Thank you for following us. Thank you For following us. Thank you, bye, bye, thank you, bye, bye.
